Take imagination on the road with LEGO Friends

Kick off a journey of storytelling with the LEGO Friends Friendship Road-Trip Travel Car (42659). This buildable set invites kids aged 6 and up to craft adventures with Liann, Aliya, and their puppy Aira as they roll toward new discoveries. A removable trailer opens extra space for pretend gear, from a kayak to skate gear, helmets, inline skates, and even a cooler that magically transforms into a tiny picnic table. With 220 pieces, each build is a tactile moment of discovery, turning hands-on assembly into a story you can see, touch, and share.

What’s inside the box

  • The car and trailer designed for on-the-go adventures
  • Kayak, helmets, skateboards, inline skates for action-packed pretend play
  • A clever cooler that doubles as a mini picnic table
  • Snacks: sandwiches, donuts, cookies, and cherries for pretend meals
  • Liann and Aliya mini-figures, plus Aira the puppy
  • All 220 pieces ready to build and customize

Play ideas and benefits

  • On-the-road storytelling: invent routes, stops, and friendship moments as the car rolls along
  • Role-play and social skills: kids coordinate gear, plan snacks, and decide who leads the journey
  • Creative transformations: the cooler converts into a picnic table for impromptu meals
  • Open-ended exploration: quests near home or far away, with room to add more characters and cars

The LEGO Builder app complements the experience with intuitive 3D instructions and progress tracking, helping aspiring builders stay engaged as they assemble the model. The design supports collaborative play, so siblings or friends can take turns and build together, enhancing patience and communication during the session.

Why it makes a thoughtful gift

Compact yet feature-rich, this set fits into a birthday or weekend surprise and pairs well with other LEGO Friends sets for expanded storytelling. While outcomes vary, many kids enjoy the sense of accomplishment as the car and trailer come together, and then transition to ongoing, portable play wherever curiosity leads.
